How to Make Red, White, and Blue Nachos on Your Grill!

Nachos are obviously a tasty addition to any meal, party, or barbecue! However, did you know that they are incredibly easy to make on your grill? You can use this backyard grilling idea when you don't want to leave the fun that is happening outside or when it is just too dang hot to cook inside. This is especially true during the summer months so today I want to give you some ideas for themed 4th of July red, white, and blue nachos.

We love spending the 4th of July with family and friends. Our street basically turns into one big neighborhood party for the day where we eat good food and put on our own fireworks show. These grilled nachos will definitely stand out, but thankfully not take all day to make! The beauty of this recipe is the customization options. Start with the basics that I give you below but you can change the protein or add your family's favorite red, white, and blue ingredients.

One note is that I used a grilling mat but you can substitute foil if you don't have a mat to put on your grill. You will need one or the other to keep the ingredients from falling through. For some reason, they didn't have chips in mind when they designed your barbecue!

Ingredients: Red Sun Farms cherry tomatoes on the vine, Red Sun Farms red bell peppers, blue corn tortilla chips, chicken breast, white shredded cheese.

Directions:
1. Prepare chicken with your favorite seasoning or marinade. Substitute with another meat if you don't prefer chicken.

2. Slice tomatoes and bell peppers into bite-sized pieces. Place tomatoes in a serving dish. I used a star cutter on the peppers and sliced cheese to add a fun touch but it isn't essential.

3. BBQ chicken on high on one side of your grill until internal temperature is 165°. Remove from grill and let rest.

4. While chicken is cooking, layer chips and cheese on mat on other side of grill. If you prefer your peppers cooked, leave room on the mat for those. Remove when cheese is thoroughly melted. Keep a close eye on these as you don't want them to burn.

5. Dice chicken and place in serving dish.

6. Serve chips and melted cheese and let your hungry guests spoon tomatoes, bell peppers, and chicken on top to create the red, white, and blue theme.

That's all there is to it! We always have Red Sun Farms tomatoes and peppers on hand for occasions such as this. They are sweet, juicy, and useful for snacking or in recipes. You can find them at your local grocery store.
