How to Make a Nike Air Force 1 Shoes Food Art Bento Lunch Recipe!

This lunch is for all the sneakerhaed dads and kids out there! It's back to school time and is also my daughter's birthday this week. She is growing up and in 8th grade (what?!) so her lunches have become more simple, yet sophisticated, and focus on different things. This summer she REALLY wanted Nike Air Force 1's. If you aren't familiar with these shoes they are a classic and always seem to be in style. I thought it would be fun to get matching pairs for her and I, and surprise her with them!

I haven't seen her that excited about a pair of shoes in a long time, plus I got a pair out of the deal. Win, win, right? Well, as I was thinking about what to make her for lunch for her first Monday back in school I thought why not surprise her with some Nike Air Force 1's again? So that is exactly what I did. This lunch is simple but detailed in the right areas. Instead of making a ton of different things to look at I tried to keep the spotlight on the classic look and feel of these shoes. I mean, as much as I could with cheese! Here is what I used for each part of this meal.

I started with a simple sandwich that included bread and meat. I cut the bread to create the shape of the shoe, which was pretty simple. I then topped it with provolone cheese. Air Force 1's can come in different colors, but I went with the traditional all white. Each detail and part of the shoe is a separate layer of cheese. I placed all of the cheese on top of the sandwich.

I then surrounded the Nike sandwich with blueberries and placed celery with nut-free spread on the bottom. One side dish is vegetables and the other is a mini cup of guacamole. All of the veggies add color to the lunch but can also be dipped in the guac!

I topped the guac with an AF1 logo cut out of cheese. I wanted to add the Nike swoosh logo as well so I made custom Nike tortilla chips. I just cut the logo out of tortilla in different sizes, sprayed them with non stick cooking spray, sprinkled on some salt, and baked at 350° for 5-7 minutes. I put a few on the lunch and placed the extras on the side so she could dip all of them in the guacamole.

So the next time your kids want a new pair of Nikes, check out the sales or just make them this Air Force 1 lunch!
