How to Make S'mores Bars for a DIY Summer Camp in Your Own Backyard!

This year so many events in our kid's and family's lives have been cancelled, but this summer is looking up because it's time for Camp Chewy! Summer camps have either gone away or gone virtual and Camp Chewy is here to help your family experience the fun of camp in your own home. In this post I am going to show you how to give a "chewy" twist to traditional S'mores. And, if you head to NoCampNoProblem.com between July 1  and July 21 2020, you can share how your family is bringing camp home to enter for the chance to win $250 worth of "Play Money" in the form of a gift card and Camp Chewy gear to encourage your family to play this summer!

Summer camp has always been a highlight of my summer and nothing reminds me of camp more than toasting marshmallows over an open fire and using that gooey goodness to build S'mores. In fact, we have been using the fire pit in our backyard almost every weekend to spend quality time as a family and indulge in this special treat. Through our experimenting we came up with this recipe idea that we wanted to share with you today to help bring that summer camp feeling to your backyard as well.

Nothing should stop playtime this summer, whether it's inside the house or in your backyard. That's where my Chewy S'mores recipe comes in! In my family it's pretty amazing to see the fun that happens when we move something simple, like dessert, into the yard. Here are two other things I love about this easy recipe. First, Quaker Chewy bars are made with 100% whole grains so it's a snack that I can feel good about giving my kids. Second, cooking and eating outside makes cleanup a snap for us parents!

So if you're ready to start your Camp Chewy fun, follow the easy recipe directions below and then head to NoCampNoProblem.com for even more camp-themed ideas that your family can enjoy.

Ingredients: Quaker Chewy Chocolate Chip Bars, marshmallows, chocolate bars.

3. Toast a marshmallow until it is browned to the desired consistency. Most of my kids like them burnt but I prefer a nice golden brown. Let your kids have fun and experiment to find their favorite way to toast them.

4. Place marshmallow on one half of Chewy bar, then top with a pieces of chocolate bar and the other half of the Chewy bar.

5. Let your kids dive into this chewy gooey twist on S'mores. Make sure to have wipes on hand so that they can clean up easily without getting melted marshmallow everywhere!
