It's back-to-school time which means it's also time for kids to come home and immediately ask for snacks! This is your moment to shine with some easy-to-make creative snacks that your kids will ask for again and again. Instead of giving the same old thing, why not use the season to your advantage and make pencil snacks out of Dandy Celery Sticks?
We love eating Dandy Celery sticks because they come washed and ready to eat, are packed with flavor and low in calories, and are crispier than other celery! Plus Dandy Celery sticks are available right at my local grocery store which makes it super convenient to get every time I'm there.
To make these simple snacks, just follow the directions below, and your kids will be begging for these each week to refuel after school.
Ingredients: Dandy Celery Sticks, your favorite spreadable filling (such as cream cheese, spreadable cheddar, or hummus), white cheese, raisins, raspberries.
Directions:
1. Cut celery sticks in half. Fill with a spreadable filling. We used spreadable cheddar cheese in order to get that orange/yellow pencil color.
2. Cut white cheese into triangles that will fit on the end of the celery. Cut raisins into small pieces for the tip of the pencil.
3. Choose small raspberries that will fit on the other end of the celery sticks.
4. Assemble celery stick pencil as shown above and place on a plate. Repeat for as many celery stick pencils as you would like. Store in refrigerator until ready to serve.
The next time you are at your local grocery store, don't forget to pick up a bag or two of Dandy Celery, you never know when you might need to whip up some quick and easy food. Busy families like ours can never be too prepared for when your kids will need a snack to munch on!
