Isn't Halloween one of the best times of year to make themed snacks? It always seems like the possibilities are endless and overwhelming, but here is a monstrously easy snack that your kids can create! We are loving these Quaker Chewy Halloween Minis, so I thought it would be so fun to make this spooky monster snack using these seasonal treats.

Chewy Halloween Mini Bars are decorated with orange sprinkles, which already feels Halloweenish since they are paired with chocolate chips. I love that they are made with 100% whole grains and other delicious ingredients. Where can you find them? They are available at retailers nationwide so just check your local store the next time you are grocery shopping.

The simple thing about this Halloween snack idea is that you only need a few supplies. The Chewy Halloween Minis come in a box that contain 28 mini granola bars - most likely more than enough bars for your kids and you to enjoy decorating. You will also want different colors of icing. Icing is different than frosting because it usually comes in bottles or tubes that make it easy to squirt out to make detailed designs instead of spreading it on with a knife. I used black, white, red, yellow, and green icing. I also had a small circle cutter which made it easy for me to create the circle shapes in the Chewy Bars. However, you can also just use a knife to cut them if you like (make sure parents handle any sharp tools).

The only other ingredient you will need is your kid's creativity. Your family can make classic monsters like mummies or spiders, or go crazy and create their own! Here are a few tips to help make this Halloween snack a success.

1. Shake your icing well before you use it. Then test it on a paper towel or in the sink. This will make sure a bunch of liquid doesn't ooze out on your Chewy Bar!

2. If you are using multiple colors of icing on the same bar, let one color dry for 10 minutes or more before adding the next color. This will help the colors not to mix together.

3. If someone messes up, it's not a big deal. You can wipe the icing off or simply eat the mistake right away. There are plenty of mini bars in a box to allow your kids to try again!

Have a fun and safe Halloween and tag me @lunchboxdad and @ChewyBarsOfficial on social media when you make these so we can see your family's amazing monster creations!
