Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker First Order Lunch Recipe

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker First Order Lunch Recipe

It has been a minute since I made my kids a Star Wars lunch so with our recent family trip to Disneyland and Galaxy's Edge, and the upcoming release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, I figured it was time. After coming back from Disney, my nine year old son said that Galaxy's Edge was his new favorite land in all of Disney Parks, so I knew he would enjoy this. He even was given a hard time by the Stormtroopers there and was able to get up close to Kylo Ren, so I decided he would appreciate if I featured the First Order in this lunch.

I went with a black, red, and white theme as a nod to the latest movies but also to the color red representing the bad guys in every Star Wars movie. This lunch features a Sith Lord quesadilla and a Stormtrooper hard boiled egg. Don't forget about the pretzel stick lightsabers, they were really easy to put together. Keep reading to find out how I made it all!

How to Make Edible Star Wars Easter Eggs (With Video Tutorial)

Star Wars craft

If your family is like mine you are crazy about Star Wars! We are also crazy about Easter. So this year I thought, why not combine the two into a fun craft? So I decided to make edible Star Wars themed Easter eggs for my kids. The best part is that the Star Wars exterior is completely edible and really easy to make!

Star Wars Easter Craft

You can watch the video below but all you will need is one plastic Easter egg for each character, something to stuff in the egg, different colored premade fondant or Wilton's Shape-N-Amaze. I buy premade fondant because it is way easier. I prefer Wilton's Shape N Amaze but it isn't available everywhere. I like it because it is a little stiffer than fondant. You will need as many colors as each character has in the design. You can combine colors to make other colors. For example, put a little black into white to make grey, or combine red and yellow to create orange. You will of course also need a knife and cutting board.

Below you will see pictures of every design that I created. I have also made a video that shows the tutorial to make BB-8, but you can use the same principles to make every design. Store these in sealable plastic container when done and set in Easter basket in the morning. Let me know if you have any questions. Please share with your friends who would love to make these for your own kids!

Star Wars Day May the 4th

My family goes crazy for Star Wars. This isn't really a secret. I took my kids to go see The Force Awakens, we have dressed up for Halloween, we own clothes. We might be a little obsessed. Ok, there's no "might be" about it. Here are my top 10 Star Wars lunches of all time.

These are in no particular order. Some of these are found right here on Lunchbox Dad and some are from my brilliant friends so make sure and click on the links to their sites. Just maybe you might be inspired to make some for your kids. They might just say, "I love you." Of course, in response you would say, "I know."

How to Make a Star Wars Christmas Lunch

The Force Awakens

With Star Wars The Force Awakens coming out this week I knew it was time for a Star Wars Christmas mashup. I know, I know, the last time Star Wars was mixed with Christmas you got The Star Wars Holiday Special. This lunch is much better than that, I promise. As a huge Stars Wars fan, it pained me a little to put a Santa hat on the R2D2 sandwich, but times like this call for sacrifice. Plus, since my kids are beyond excited for both Christmas and Star Wars, I thought it would be the best of both worlds for them.

This did take much longer than usual to make, but I thought it was worth it. I made the lunch in an Easy Lunch Boxes container and used a Christmas Lunchbox Love note. I hope you have a great holiday season, and remember to follow me on here and on my social media channels so that you don't miss any of my great holiday posts coming up!

Throwback Thursday Lunch Linkup #10

Thursday, April 24, 2014

Here is today's "Throwback Thursday" lunch post linkup. This is to give everyone a chance to post their past fun meals! The rules are simple. Anyone can post their fun lunch, but it has to be at least 6 months old. Not the lunch itself, the post. A 6 month old lunch would be gross and no one wants to see that. The lunch also has to be your own, not one that you saw on someone else's site. So dig up those old pictures and post them for everyone to see. Please share the linkup on your social media networks as well so everyone can join in on the throwback fun.

Week 28: Star Wars

Star Wars kids lunchWeek 28: Star Wars.  My family has really been addicted to Star Wars lately, so I figured it was time to do a lunch on it!  My kids have been watching some of the movies and I just bought the book "Vader and Son" which is hilarious.  You can find it on Amazon.  I incorporated some of my kids favorite characters and themes.  I used the Go Green Lunch Box.  You can find my review of it HERE. I liked that I could do a couple different Star Wars scenes in this box with the different compartments.

As always, let me know your own ideas for a Star Wars lunch.  I also have another one coming for May the 4th.  Make sure to follow me on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest and spread the word about www.lunchboxdad.com to all your friends.  Also, click on the button below to see this lunch and more like it today on Meatless Monday Blog

Ingredients
1 hard-boiled egg
1 Babybel round cheese
1 serving star shaped cookies or crackers
1 piece dried mango
1 kiwi
1 Tbsp. fat-free cream cheese
1 half of both green and red apples
2 leaves romaine lettuce or 1 serving wagon wheel pasta
1 piece of natural fruit leather

Yellow, blue, and red food coloring or food coloring markers

Directions
  1. Cut a “head” shape out of dried mango for C3P0 as shown in picture.
  2. Mix equal parts yellow, blue, and red food coloring in a small bowl to make the color black.  Dip the end of a toothpick in the black coloring and use it to draw the details on C3P0’s face.  Use dots of cream cheese for the eyes.  Repeat with black and blue coloring for R2D2 on the hard-boiled egg.  You can use food color markers if desired.
  3. Cut skin off kiwi and slice fruit in half.  Use one half to shape Yoda’s oval head, as shown in picture.  Cut triangle ears out of the other half of kiwi and place on either side of his head.  Create eyes with small dots of cream cheese and make facial details with black food coloring as shown.
  4. Slice two long narrow pieces of a red and green apple to make the sword shaped light sabers.  Cut two small lightsaber “handles” out of fruit leather as shown in picture.
  5. Use black food coloring or markers to draw the details of the Death Star space station on the round Babybel cheese (or similar type of cheese).
  6. Depending on your container, arrange all the elements as desired.  You can use either romaine lettuce or cooked wagon wheel pasta as a background.  Garnish with a few small star shaped cookies or crackers.
  7. You can buy a lunch box, like the one shown in the picture, at gogreenlunchbox.com
