Three Top Avengers Lunch Recipe Ideas!

Sunday, May 5, 2019

Avengers Endgame

Well, we finally saw Avengers: Endgame this weekend and it was definitely worth the wait. Somehow we also escaped without hearing spoilers beforehand, which might have been a miracle in and of itself. Regardless, I had to make my kids an Avengers lunch since this might be the last movie with all of the original team in it.

Who are your kids' favorite Avengers? For awhile my oldest son's was Captain America, but he kind of goes back and forth. My daughter loves Black Widow. My youngest's is probably Thor but it also could be Black Panther. I hope my kids enjoy their Avengers lunch to finish off the school year. If your kids are fans, here are three Avengers recipe ideas that I put in my kids' lunch!

Mo Willems Pigeon Finds a Hot Dog Book Lunch Recipe Ideas!

It's funny, the older my kids get, the more I enjoy reading them books as frequently as possible. I don't know if it's because I see that our time for reading books geared towards younger readers is coming to an end in the next couple years, or the fact that I love reading the books as much as they love being read to.

Our typical family bedtime routine is to get pajamas on, brush teeth, and then my kids each get to choose a book for me to read to them. There are certain books that I absolutely love when they pick out. The Pigeon series of books by Mo Willems definitely falls into that category, and can you believe it-the Pigeon series is celebrating 16 years!

The Pigeon Finds a Hot Dog! is actually one of our favorite books of the moment, so to celebrate Pigeon's 16th BIRD-Day, I had to make a lunch inspired by the story. This book is entertaining for the family with a great lesson at the end.

Because we are so into the Pigeon books, we cannot wait for the release of the newest book in the series: The Pigeon Has to Go to School. Since Mo Willems has done such a fantastic job with his previous books, we expect this newest Pigeon book will be more of the same when it is released on June 2, 2019! My kids can't wait to see what adventures The Pigeon will be involved in now. Until then, here are some fun lunch recipe ideas to go with The Pigeon Finds a Hot Dog! Here's to 16 years!

Easter Bunny School Lunch Recipe Idea!

Who else is ready for Easter? Oh good, so you're not ready either? We have family coming, eggs to hide, and food to make. It's an exciting time in our house but we are far from ready for the big day. However, this school lunch recipe is a step in the right direction.  It's an Easter Bunny quesadilla!

I made this lunch in an Easy Lunch Boxes container and gave it to my kids a bit before Easter so then we could focus on making all of the rest of our Easter food! The recipe is below.

Mo Willems' Because Book Musical Lunch Box Recipe Ideas!

Mo Willems Because Book Musical Lunch Box Recipe Ideas!

Have you ever thought back on key moments in your life, the people involved, and the events that fell into place, which then provided an opportunity that you have now? Mo Willems' new book Because is about those times where all of these things fall into place to make something magical happen! A little girl learns to create beautiful music because of a few chance happenings, hard work, and the impact of people around her.
Mo Willems Because Book Musical Lunch Box Recipe Ideas!

Can you think of any similar times in your life? For example, because someone bought your child a basketball for Christmas when they were five, they worked hard, were supported, and became a starter on their high school basketball team? For my family I would say because I started making my daughter these fun lunches six years ago, I was able to discover a love for social media, which opened up an opportunity to change careers and get a full-time job doing social media for a company. Sometimes I still can't believe it.

Take a minute to try and remember some of these "because" moments in your life or your family's life. Go ahead, I'll wait. Pretty amazing to think back on, right? If you enjoy seeing how everything is tied together, you and your kids will love the book Because. I won't give it all away, but my favorite points of the story are seeing the roles that people play that you don't even consider important at first. Train operators, paper printers, people who clean the floors, and others help make the music happen. Everyone is important!

Fun The LEGO Movie 2 kids lunch ideas!

If you are looking for a family who loves LEGO and is super excited for The LEGO Movie 2, then you've come to the right place! If you're looking for LEGO kids lunch recipe ideas, then you've also come to the right place! Since the movie was just released, I of course had to make an Emmet lunch for my kids to take to school.

The great thing about LEGO lunches is that they are actually pretty easy to create LEGO minifigure heads are basic shapes and the facial features are simple as well. I think anyone can copy these ideas for your own kid's lunch! Keep reading to find out how I made it.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse Spider-Gwen Lunch

Sunday, February 3, 2019

How to make a Spider-Gwen Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse lunch for your kids!

For the third lunch in my Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse series, I had to make Spider-Gwen for my daughter. Gwen was her favorite and definitely an awesome part of the movie. Gwen Stacy died in the original Spider-Man universe but became Spider-Gwen in another dimension. She was saving the world over there until the events of Into the Spider-Verse happened.

I won't give away any more, because you really should see the movie, but just know that she is an amazing part of it. I made the lunch in an Easy Lunch Boxes container and tried to keep to the pink, white, and black color scheme of her costume. I'll just include the ingredients because you can just look at the photo make it. Her hood was the trickiest part but that is just mainly tortilla and strawberry cream cheese. You can check out her movie trailer below to find out more info!

The Nightmare Before Christmas Jack Skellington Lunch

Monday, December 3, 2018

School lunch ideas

If you've been around my blog for awhile, you are well aware of my family's fondness for the movie The Nightmare Before Christmas. Well, despite the fact that this Disney movie is known as a Halloween and Christmas film, I have somehow never made a Jack Skellington lunch for Christmas. It has only been for Halloween. I know, I know, I'm having a hard time forgiving myself for this one. Hopefully this lunch will get me back on the nice list with my kids and the big guy in the red suit!

How to Make a Fall Football Lunch PLUS BONUS Halloween Snack Ideas!

Friday, October 12, 2018

This is a sponsored post in partnership with Juicy Juice. All opinions are my own.
Juicy Juice

It's that time of year again. You know what I'm talking about. Boots and scarfs awake from their summer slumber, school is back in full-force, everything is pumpkin spice, the leaves magically change, apples become the go-to-fruit, and football takes over the weekends. Fall really is a fantastic few months! In order to properly celebrate this season, I had to make this Fall Football Lunch complete with a side of Juicy Juice 100% Juice. If you are going to experience Fall, you need to do it right!

Each one of the elements of this lunch symbolizes something fun for our family. First of all, we love collecting multicolored leaves to create beautiful crafts. Kids can do incredibly creative things with them. Football is also a favorite in our house. I would brag about our team, but let's just say that there's not much to brag about right now. It's still fun to make a no-bake football granola bar though.

Juicy Juice

Our family also is susceptible to the lure of all the pumpkin spice flavored food as well. That's why we came up with the idea of a yogurt bar where our kids could load this side dish up with the Fall toppings of their choice. Since this time of year is also known for all things apple, no Fall themed lunch would be complete without Juicy Juice 100% Juice, Apple flavor! We feel good about using Juicy Juice because it is 100% real juice with no added sugar or artificial sweeteners. Check out the recipe below for how I made this lunch!

Hotel Transylvania Lunch Ideas

How to make a Hotel Transylvania lunch!

You can't talk about fun family Halloween movies if you don't include Hotel Transylvania on that list. My kids were begging to see the newest movie all summer long. The series is just good natured and hilarious. As far as comedic monster movies go, Hotel Transylvania hits the mark for sure. My favorite character might be Blobby, but my kids love Frank, Winnie, and of course Drac. So I figured that I have been making fun lunches long enough that this lunch was long overdue.

I made this lunch an Easy Lunch Boxes container. One tip is you will want to leave the fondant in a separate container overnight or it will start to "melt" on the tortilla. Do the same thing with the candy googly eyes on Blobby. It will only take a second to assemble it in the morning. It is also always fun to watch one of the movies before you make the lunch for them. You can never go wrong with spending some family time together and then reminding your kids of it the next day with a fun lunch! Keep reading for the entire recipe.

Harry Potter Hermione Granger Lunch

How to make a Harry Potter Hermione Granger school lunch!

This is actually a birthday lunch in surprise! My daughter is turning twelve today and one of her favorite all-time things is Harry Potter. She even had an entire Harry Potter themed birthday party this weekend. I might eventually have to do a blog post on all the fun parts of the party that we created. However, I have never made her a Hermione Granger lunch, so it was about time!

This is not my normal style lunch but I figured why not try something different? I think this might be the second lunch in which I have ever used rice in as the main dish. I'll even let you in on a little secret. I took the easy route and just went and bought sticky rice at a local sushi place today instead of making my own. It cost all of $2 and was worth every penny. Another hack is to put cold water on your hands as you're shaping the rice and rolling it in nori. This will help the rice not stick to your hands and also make the seaweed easier to seal. I made the lunch in an Easy Lunch Boxes container. So make sure to read the recipe below and share this with all of your Potterhead friends!

Avengers Infinity Gauntlet Lunch With the Dust of Dead Superheroes

Monday, August 20, 2018

Marvel

Ever since my kids and I saw Avengers Infinity War this summer they have pretty much been obsessed. My son can't get enough of Thanos and his Infinity Gauntlet. Granted Thanos might not be the best role model for him, but hey he's in third grade. Of course I had to also throw in some of the other superheroes. What? You can't see Spider-Man, Black Panther, Dr. Strange, and the Guardians of the Galaxy? They are in the upper right corner! Well, what's left of them is.

If you want your kids to rule the lunch room, try out the Infinity Gauntlet lunch. The video tutorial and ingredients are below!

How to Make a Snow White Lunch

How to make a Disney Princess Snow White lunch for your kids

It's the last week of school so I had to do something really special for my daughter's lunch. She has loved Snow White ever since she was a few years old but I have never done a Snow White lunch for her. I've made Rapunzel, Elsa, and Belle, but not this original Disney Princess. I still remember when, during our first trip to Disneyland, my daughter dressed up like Snow White and then met her. My daughter was stunned and couldn't take her eyes off of her. It was the kind of moment that as a parent you remember forever!

I based the sandwich and poison apple on Disney's Snow White. However, the gemstones were inspired by riding the Seven Dwarf's Mine Train at The Magic Kingdom in Disney World. I made her hair out of black olives because my daughter loves black olives. Like she could eat a can at every meal type love. I made the whole lunch in an Easy Lunch Boxes container.

Guardians Of the Galaxy Star-Lord Happy Birthday Lunch

Monday, May 21, 2018

Marvel

It's my son's eighth birthday this week, and if there's one thing he can't get enough of, it's super heroes. He is dying to see the rest of the Marvel movies, but we are moving a little slower than some. We just watched Guardians of the Galaxy 2, and he thought it was hilarious. So I thought a Star-Lord (also known as Peter) lunch was in order. We've already done a Groot lunch so this was next in line. I've never done a birthday/character crossover lunch, so this is a first!

I went with Star-Lord's mask, cassette tape with a birthday mix instead of awesome mix, and a cupcake with a candle. It was all made in an Easy Lunch Boxes container. It has a few more treats than normal, but since it's his birthday I think it's okay this time. I hope it makes his birthday a little happier and I hope you enjoy it as well.

Disney Pluto the Dog Lunch

Tuesday, May 15, 2018

Mickey Mouse

Is there any cuter Disney character than Pluto? I mean, he's always ready to play, is continually happy, and seems to constantly be up for an adventure. Sure he gets himself in the occasional jam but Mickey Mouse can't stay mad at him. It's just impossible not to love this dog. It's for these reasons that I thought my kids would love to get a Pluto lunch for school.

This Pluto sandwich lunch is basically just a few cuts of cheese, similar to my Donald Duck lunch. I also like that I was able to include a good amount of fruit and vegetables. I created it in an Easy Lunch Boxes container. See below for all the ingredients and directions!

How to Make a Disney Donald Duck Lunch

Monday, May 7, 2018

Mickey Mouse

Icon. Legend. Hero. Cranky duck. If you don't love Donald Duck how can you even call yourself a human being? I think he sometimes gets forgotten in, or at least ranked lower in, Disney lore. Don't make that mistake. If you have ever been to Toontown in Disneyland you know he has the coolest house by far. How can you beat living on a ship? Sure he has a temper (what duck doesn't), but I thought it was about time that I recognize the genius that is Donald Duck.

From his dapper way of dressing, to his intellectual vocabulary, I had so many options to highlight. I ended up landing on a simple footprint and his uniform, and put it all in an Easy Lunch Boxes container. I hope my kids enjoy it and I hope you will as well. It is pretty easy to make once you see what I used in each container. To see the ingredients, scroll down to read the recipe below!

How to make Disney Pixar Incredibles 2 fun lunches for your kids!

I feel like if there was any movie that my kids have been addicted to on-and-off for their entire lives, it's The Incredibles. My older kids know it backwards and forwards, all of them have watched it as we have driven across country, and we even wore out one DVD copy of it. Our family even dressed up as The Incredibles one year for Halloween. Don't believe me? See the photo below. So it goes without saying that we are super excited for Incredibles 2 to come out!

If you are as big of fans of the movie as we are, you are going to want to check out the photos and ingredients for these fun lunches below. Each of my kids got a different character. Mr. Incredible goes to my oldest son, Elastigirl is my daughter's, and my youngest son will get Jack-Jack. I think that my kids are going to be so pumped to open them up at school tomorrow! What do you think?

Sherlock Gnomes Lunch For Your Kids!

This is a sponsored post in partnership with Paramount Pictures. All opinions are my own.

My entire family gets so excited when we find a fun movie that we can all go see on a Saturday morning. Usually, we all get up and my wife and I surprise our kids by telling them that we are going to get ready and go see a film at our local theatre. Because this is one of our favorite things to do as a family, we can't wait for March 23rd when Sherlock Gnomes hits the big screen! My kids have been watching the trailer for weeks now and they can barely contain themselves. Have you seen the trailer yet? Watch it below!

A Wrinkle in Time Mrs. Which Lunch

Monday, March 5, 2018

Oprah Winfrey

One of my favorite things to do is to read with my kids before bed. It was what my dad did with me when I was young. I still remember him reading A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle to me. This year, I jumped at the chance to read it with my daughter. She loved it so much that we also read A Wind at the Door, and will eventually read the entire series. When she saw that A Wrinkle in Time was about to come out in the movie theatre, she was beside herself with excitement. She cannot wait to see it! I also can't wait to see it with her.

I love the fact that it is a story with a young female lead, Meg Murry (played by Storm Reid), who is smart and brave. It encourages girls, like my daughter, that they can succeed and be the strong heroes in their own life. Of course, some of the other main characters are the eccentric Mrs. Which (played by Oprah Winfrey), Mrs. Whatsit (played by Reese Witherspoon), and Mrs. Who (played by Mindy Kaling).

Peter Rabbit Lunch

Monday, February 12, 2018

Peter Rabbit movie

Like many people, my family and I were so excited to see the Peter Rabbit movie this weekend. As a big fan of the books growing up, and after seeing the previews, and we couldn't wait to see it. We didn't read anything about the movie going into it but it we thought it would be a great time out. So in retrospect this lunch is just as much about the books as it is about the movie.

How to Make a PJ Masks Gekko Lunch

Monday, January 22, 2018

Paw Patrol

Out of time and energy but your kids still want a PJ Masks lunch? Maybe your kids are just addicted to PJ Masks like mine are? I'm actually not sure if my youngest enjoys Paw Patrol or PJ Masks more. All I know is that I usually have both theme songs stuck in my head. Is it normal for a grown man to know the names of Cat Boy, Gekko, and Owlette? Oh well, I'm sure if you're a parent you can relate.

This lunch is actually really easy because you are just turning a pear into a PJ Mask. I was stressed for time with this one so I took the easy way out but I like how it turned out. You can find out how to make a Gekko lunch for your own kids by following my directions below. I created this in an Easy Lunch Boxes container.
