My entire family gets so excited when we find a fun movie that we can all go see on a Saturday morning. Usually, we all get up and my wife and I surprise our kids by telling them that we are going to get ready and go see a film at our local theatre. Because this is one of our favorite things to do as a family, we can't wait for March 23rd when Sherlock Gnomes hits the big screen! My kids have been watching the trailer for weeks now and they can barely contain themselves. Have you seen the trailer yet? Watch it below!

Because they are so excited, I had to make a Sherlock Gnomes lunch for them. It's complete with Sherlock, Gnomeo and Juliet's gnome hats, and a flower garden (after all they are garden gnomes). As parents, we love that the movie is showing the value of teamwork and putting family first! Of course, we also love that it looks hilarious. So in honor of the movie I'm sharing my Sherlock Gnomes lunch recipe below.

Ingredients: Whole wheat bread, flour tortilla, spinach tortilla wrap, sliced white cheese, blueberries, three strawberries, mandarin orange, raisins, red sweet pepper, blue fondant.

Directions:
1. Cut flour tortilla in the shape of Sherlock Gnomes' face. It is a long oval with an ear. Trace and cut another piece using the first one that you did. Place the second piece on top of the first while stuffing the middle with sliced cheese. Cut nose and mouth pieces out of the tortilla and place on Sherlock's face.

2. For the other facial features, cut out and place where shown in photo. For the eyes use white cheese and raisins. For the sideburns and eyebrows use whole wheat bread. The goatee is made from white cheese. Create the shirt and bowtie using cheese and bread. You can make the magnifying glass using tortilla and white cheese. The jacket and hat are made from spinach tortilla wrap.

3. Drop handful of blueberries in main compartment of lunchbox and assemble Sherlock Gnomes as shown in photos.

4. Fill the first side compartment halfway up with raisins. Slice end off of red sweet pepper and place on top of raisins. This is the red gnome hat. Use blue fondant to create the blue gnome hat. I would have used a vegetable, but it is almost impossible to find a blue veggie at your local supermarket.

5. In the second side compartment, you will want to make a flower garden. The mandarin orange and strawberry flowers are really easy to make with a paring knife. It only takes a minutes once you get the hang of it. You can look at my photos to see where to make the cuts or just search "mandarin orange flower" and "strawberry rose" on YouTube for short video tutorials. There are plenty of them on there. For the lunch, I set the mandarin orange peel flower on top of the orange slices in the compartment.

I hope your kids enjoy this Sherlock Gnomes lunch and that your whole family loves seeing the movie when it comes out on March 23rd. Make sure to follow Sherlock Gnomes on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter!
