Lunchbox Dad's Top 14 Lunches of 2014

Another year is almost over so it's time to look back on an amazing year here at Lunchbox Dad. So many great things happened from appearing on The Steve Harvey Show, to being featured on Good Morning America, writing for The Huffington Post, a back-to-school article in People Magazine, and recently being named one of the 14 Parents Who Stormed the Internet in 2014. I also started writing more parenting posts here on my blog, including two that went viral and were featured on other sites: 9 Things Not to Say to the Parents of a Newborn and Sorry Kids, I Will Never Let You Beat Me. Thank you to all of you who spread the word about my blog this past year!

However, this blog has primarily always been about the fun lunches I make my kids, so I present to you my top 14 lunches of 2014. Some of these were really popular, others are just favorites of my kids and I. All of them hold special memories from this last year. So here they are, in no particular order:

  1. Woohoo! How cool the TMNT lunch was #1! I know you said it was in no particular order, but... ;)
Lots of cool lunches — I hadn't seen the Narnia one. Very nice. Stay tuned for my Top 14 SuperLunchNotes of 2014...

  2. Thanks for your opinion Grant. I don't agree, but I appreciate you sharing a different point of view.

  3. 1-8 read like you tried to come up with witty responses. Then #9 just veers off track with a weak " I would do anything" canned response. Please blog about how you came to these 9 questions. Baby poop up to the armpits seems like an exaggeration. My baby only gets poop coming out of the diaper if I don't fasten it securely. When this happens it only gets a bit on her back. Let's tone down the drama of having a baby with kid #4.

  4. So... in #2 you scold people for asking if there's anything they can do for you. But then, in #3 you tell people to ask if there's anything that they can do for you. Wat.

  6. Hi Your Mother. Ha, that screen name is pretty hilarious. I don't have to blog about how I came up with these 9 points because I can tell you right now that either my wife and I have had to respond to all of these at one point or another. Many times it has been over and over again. So these have been real instances in our life. I am not exaggerating about the poop. Be thankful you have never had to deal with it. My first child was trial by fire, my second wasn't bad, and my third has reminded me how this actually does happen. Seriously, it has been up to the armpits before. And no, I won't post pictures of it.

  9. Well, yes while having a puppy is not like having a kid, in my opinion it is a great training. You are right people don't nurse dogs (because we are not their mothers).... but we had our dog since he was 6 weeks old. He was too small to be potty trained so for several weeks he peed and pooped everywhere in the house. It took forever until he got the message that he should be doing it OUTSIDE. Also, I wonder if you ever had a dog... because most dogs don't just obey their owners, they have their mind of their own, and their own little personality (just like a child). And yes, many times you can train them as much as you want they still disobey you and do things that are not right. You also have the added difficulty of using a different language and trying to communicate to different species. While I do get what you are saying, I think there are many similarities.

  10. Actually, I have had dogs most of my life. This includes puppies. I actually have had my latest dog for the last ten years. I still see it as a way different and greater responsibility. Thanks for your comment though.

  11. Spot on! And I actually DID get to skip two spots in line at Target a couple of weeks ago. God bless them. :) And I've cleaned poop out of their hair before. I really could go on with a specific example to back up each of yours. Thanks!

  13. You're really not. I think it's just that the majority of us are too busy cleaning spit up, collecting laundry, doing the zombie "bounce/rock," etc to Comment High-Five you. Don't let the neigh sayers get you down!

I did have a dog yes. That's why I notice it's so different. If you raise a dog with all the love and care you can be very sure you'll have nice dog. I've seen enough families though where the parents were loving and caring for their children but they grew up to be scum anyway. It's not because you managed to raise a dog it automatically means that you are totally fit to raise a child; but this works both ways. It's not because you manage to raise a child that it means you can raise/teach a dog very well because of like you say language barrier.

  16. I also thought the same when I read it lol

  17. I read this article because close family members are about to have a baby , I totally learned many things in a different point of view.

The one in the grocery store I think I should give my spot if a baby is crying because they need it more than me , but they shouldn't take their baby to the store (is a newborn) , or even when is a year old because is really annoying hearing a baby crying, so don't expect people don't tell you anything when is like if your screaming for attention even tho you don't want it lol,

Number 7 I think is personal because if I don't tell them to bring the baby probably they never will, or they will think I'm not interesting in seeing the baby.

Good luck with your baby , hopefully you'll be a perfect dad.

  18. It was your choice to create and have the kid... Those responsibilities come with a new born, for better or worse, and if you didn't want a poop machine that keeps you up at night.... Then you should have thought about that after the last kid or pehaps purchased a low to no maintenance pet. People ask dumb questions all the time about things that they aren't experiencing first hand. I'm sure that someone who works for a pet rescue could write a top 10 annoying questions from people as well, so could a hospice nurse on annoying people and how families deal with end of live concerns. Suck it up, it goes with the territory.

  20. I don't know why, but I love that your vacuum is camoflouge. It looks super cute that way. I've got brothers that hunt and fish, so I know a bit of what it might mean to feel like a man when you are cleaning the carpets at home. Thanks for brightening my day with such a clever photo and neat vacuum design.

  21. I absolutely loved this article. I'm going to have to show it to my husband for sure. He is usually the one who ends up being in charge of cleaning the floors in our house. Do you know if you can use vinegar to clean travertine flooring? http://www.marble4us.com/travertine-flooring.html

  22. I love the fourth tip that you can use vinegar and water to easily get dirt out. I love that it won't leave residue, and you can make a lot of the solution so that you can use it for future messes. This definitely will be something that will make me call my husband a "superhero"! Thanks for the tip! http://www.newwaycarpetcleaning.ca/en/rug_cleaning.html

  24. When writing the body of the synthesis essay, ensure each paragraph addresses a separate theme. Avoid summarizing sources one by one if you want to write a smart essay. Facts gathered from the evaluated sources should be organized into categories based on common characteristics or topics. Each paragraph should include information from several different sources. If your essay has a thesis statement, the first line of each body paragraph should be a topic sentence that addresses the assertion in some way. Get the best match-3 games of 2022 here.
