Wednesday, January 27, 2016

Disclosure: I have been compensated by HP for this post but the opinions expressed are solely my own.

I am so excited to tell you about what could be coming to your child's classroom soon! With the Sprout by HP, you have seen it help me to create my Big Hero 6 lunch, scan in and print off my child's art projects in 3D, make holiday crafts, and much more. Well guess what? HP has ramped up the power and are releasing the Sprout Pro made especially for the classroom. I have seen first hand not only what the Sprout can do, but how my kids learn from it.

How to Make a Quick But Tasty Adult Lunch

Monday, January 25, 2016

Adults have to eat too! Sometimes you need a quick and easy lunch, but you are tired of the same old thing. You think you might just go on a fast instead of eating another boring sandwich and chips. Here is an idea to help with that! This lunch gives you tons of flexibility on what to create with the ingredients.

I am a firm believer that everything is more fun on a stick and this lunch is no exception. I made two vegetable kabobs with grape tomatoes and mini Persian cucumbers. The other kabob is alternating chicken and cheese. Now here is where this gets interesting. I filled one compartment with humus and the other with mini tortillas that I made. The tortillas were easy, I just used a glass on top of a regular flour tortilla to make perfect mini circles. This is what gives you the flexibility to make your own small pita pockets with chicken, cheese, vegetables, and hummus, or the other option is to just dip the tortillas in hummus and eat everything else on its own!

I hope this helps take your own lunch to the next level. I packed it in an Easy Lunch Boxes container like I do with some of my kids' lunches. Have a great week and remember to follow me on all of my social media so you never miss out!

How to Make a "Build Your Own Soup Bar" For Busy Families

Wednesday, January 20, 2016

This post has been sponsored by Campbell's Soup. I have been compensated but all opinions are my own.
Campbell's Soup #realreallife

We've all been there. The baby's screaming, the middle child has stolen the oldest kid's shoes, and the dog just helped himself to your family's entire lunch. Oh and by the way you need to get one child to their soccer game and the rest to their friend's house. It's almost as though you need four parents to get everything done. Or maybe just you and three security officers. That's where this build your own soup bar comes in. It's tasty, fast, can be prepped the night before, and even little kids can make a cup with a little help from adults!

The best part of this idea is that you don't even need to do the soup bar at home! Because it uses a Keurig machine and Campbell's Fresh Brewed Soup Kits you can even take it to sporting events, play dates at the park, or to the local amusement park for a dinner break in the parking lot! I'll show you how later in this post. But first, read on for the simple ingredient options to make your next hot meal easy and fun for the whole family.

How to Make a Super Easy Spider-Man Lunch

Monday, January 18, 2016

Sometimes all it takes to take a lunch from boring to awesome is a few props. I made this lunch for me kids with just a little effort and a few extra items that I had laying around. I added a sticker (with the back on) that says "Super" and a plastic Spider-Man ring. The yogurt is a pouch that is Spider-Man themed as well. For the lunchbox I used an Easy Lunch Boxes container.

I made a strawberry sandwich with cream cheese and whole wheat bread. I topped it with blackberries. The spider is black edible modeling dough. For the side there are three options. You can use dried blackberries, black bean pasta, or black rice.

The main point is that a fun lunch can take many different forms and doesn't have to take a ton of time. So have fun with it and your kids will too!

Ingredients: Sliced bread, cheddar cheese, sliced meat, grape tomatoes, fruit leather, strawberries, green apple

Directions:
1. Cut a slice of bread in half and cut the end in a triangle shape. Repeat until you have four pieces. Stack two pieces on top of each other. Cut cheddar cheese into squares and place on top of bread. Trim fruit leather into two narrow pieces and two triangles. Place where shown on bread. Kids can make their own cheese and meat sandwiches from these!

2. Place sandwiches in main container and put grape tomatoes on the end as an eraser.

3. Slice strawberries in half and then shape the top to form a heart. Repeat and put in side dish.

4. Cut apple in half. Use a sharp knife and make shallow cuts to make the A+ out of the skin. Place sliced meat in side dish and then put apple on top. If needed, put a little lemon juice on apple to stop it from going brown.
